Twenty ideas for solving standing in line problem. (In our case, waiting in line at a grocery store)

  • Have reading choices (assorted selection)
  • Have employees be nice
  • Customer engagement via mobile app, which gives discounts
  • Beepers, allow people to mill around and be called when there is an opening
  • Cheaper Deliver (online shopping)
  • Diner / Postal style (shopper picks in person, items are delivered to them in the parking lot
  • Trolley System (pay as you put items in shopping cart)
  • Conveyer-style shopping
  • Portable cashiers / flag shopper
  • Discount for waiting
  • More cashiers
  • Free food samples
  • “Sims” style social statuses
  • App to tell when in-store traffic is minimal
  • Caste system – allotted shopping times
  • Group-based ordering
  • Disney-style lines
  • Do something you normally don’t do
  • Deep-breathing / creative meditating
  • Play assassins to get in line
