Make Electronics Broil an LED

Broil an LED

November 8th, 2010 in Electronics by 0 Comments

This post is a response to an exercise in the book “Make: Electronics”.

In this exercise, an LED is broiled. The purpose is to explain that if the wrong soldering iron is used, electronic components can be damaged. A good way to prevent damage is by using heat-sinks when soldering components together.

Since I have destroyed couple of LEDs in a previous project. (Stupid Pet Trick), I decided to waive the experiment, but still read the experiment’s background, tools, and theory sections.
